WHAT IS GUA GONG AND WHERE IS IT?

Goa Gong is located in the village of Bomo, Punung District, Donorejo, about 140 kilometers in south of the city of Solo or 30 kilometers in the Southwest of the city of Pacitan.

It is named Goa Gong because there is a big stone and when we hit it, it would cause the noise that sounded like A Gong. The trip to the cave is relatively easy, with a footpath that has been repaired properly.

All the way to Goa Gong will pass through hilly areas with caves in it. Caves in Pacitan are generally formed from the type of Karst rocks, they are the stones that looked black and very hard. At the beginning, Goa Gong was discovered by two local residents who accidentally looking for the source of water.

Do not imagine the dark and scary cave if you want to go there, because it is very nice place especially when it is in the mouth of the cave that as far as 300 meters, visitors will enjoy colorful light of the Gua Gong.

It is not really bright, but in the cave facilitated with the dim lights along the entry road. This is what makes Gua Gong different from  other caves in Pacitan.
